Active Ethernet, also referred to as AE and Power over Ethernet (PoE), eliminates the need for power blisters (ac-to-dc converters) and expensive, cumbersome 110/220 VAC cabling installation. With Proxim's 4301-US, system installers only need to run a single Ethernet cable instead of separate power and data cables heading to each Access Point or wireless bridge. This alone can save thousands of dollars per installation.
